I’m a beginner knitter and was able to make this pattern. I like its classic old fashioned look. I made a hat to go with.

What an amazingly brilliant pattern! This was my first time making a cardigan where the individual parts of the cardigan were almost completely seamless (minus the sleeves). It was hard for me to understand the big-picture construction before diving in, but the instructions were clear. In due time, I started to see the pattern emerge, and can I just say, wow, what an exquisite design?! My first attempt using acrylic yarn made the finished piece curl a lot, but I left it under a heavy book overnight and some of it went away. I'm hoping that when I make it using wool, I can iron the front flap and bottom of the cardigan to solve for that. I may have to make it a couple more times before the cardigan looks anything like the one in the photo, but maybe the little imperfections will let people know that it's handmade, by me!
